Liberty Rider is a startup that provides services to motorcyclists via its mobile application. Their main service is the automatic detection of motorcycle falls. It uses the phone sensors (gps, accelerometer) to send an alert in case of danger and call directly the emergency services if the biker does not confirm his condition.
I joined the team in a UX role before gradually taking charge over the whole product design, I was the only designer in charge of this project, from research to design and delivery. I’m proud to have accompanied this project from their v1 to their seed funding.

Being the sole product designer on this project, I had to be as efficient as possible with the various phases of the design process. I opted for a lean, situational approach of user research. I focused on interviews (of both experts and standard users), surveys and some guerilla user testing.
In the end, the process is to design - test - iterate. Most of the time there in no need to overcomplicate things and just pick the best tool to answer our current question.
Luckily, the product already had a bit of following with some really committed core users. It was a pleasure to speak with them about their issues and figure out together the best course of action.
Being a new product and company, the main challenge for me when designing the app was to maintain the cohesion of the product while the UI was evolving and various features were tested and introduced.
